It will be the first to focus on the menopause experiences, insights, and strength of Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. Rooted in the sacred, the ancestral, and the political, this conference gathers formerly incarcerated people, healers, artists, cultural workers, researchers, and organizers from across the diaspora to remember, reclaim, and reimagine menopause as more than a moment—it is a portal.

WHO ARE WE ?
The Black Girl’s Guide to Surviving Menopause (BGG2SM) is a culture and narrative shift reproductive justice collective. We are a multidisciplinary, socially engaged practice rooted in storytelling as a liberatory act—an embodied practice of witnessing, cultural organizing, and ritual. Since our founding in 2019, we’ve worked to reshape how aging, menopause, and reproductive justice are understood and experienced, particularly by those most often pushed to the margins.
BGG2SM is powered by a dynamic, intergenerational team of 10 Black women, nonbinary, and trans individuals dedicated to shifting harmful narratives and advocating for health equity from menarche to menopause. Our team represents a rich tapestry of lived experiences, identities, and skills. We are creatives, culture workers, Healing Justice practitioners, and Reproductive Justice advocates.
At BGG2SM, we don’t just tell stories—we reclaim them, tend to them, and activate them as maps for liberation, memory, and transformation.
